Support

Support for Bucknell Faculty:

  • Open Lab – Open lab hours will be held in the ITEC office on Tuesdays from 9am-11am and Wednesdays from 2pm-4pm.  The topics for each week will be posted in the Bucknell message center and on the ITEC calendar.  Sessions on GIS and geospatial technologies will be offered frequently. Check the GIS blog/calendar for information on upcoming Open Lab sessions.
  • Workshops – the GIS Specialist offers faculty workshops on an ongoing basis.  Usually there is a week-long workshop offered during the summer recess and several shorter workshops offered during the fall and spring semester.  Suggestions for workshop topics are always welcome.  Check the GIS blog/calendar for information on upcoming workshops.
  • Individual Consultation – the GIS Specialist is available to meet with faculty by drop-in or appointment to talk about research and course-related questions, issues and ideas.
  • Web-Based Virtual Training – Bucknell has a site license of ESRI’s suite of GIS software. The site license includes free, unlimited use of ESRI’s web-based Virtual Campus training (for faculty, students and staff). To see a list of ESRI’s Virtual Campus offerings, click here.

Support for Bucknell Students:

  • Individual/Group Consultation – the GIS Specialist is available by appointment to meet with individual students or groups to provide guidance and tech support in the use of GIS for course work or research projects.  You’re also free to drop in if you see me in my office – depending on how busy I am I’ll either work with you right then or set up an appointment with you.  Given the wide range of GIS work that students engage in at Bucknell, it makes things much easier if you e-mail me in advance with a description of what you’re trying to do and where you are stuck.  If you give me this info in advance it’ll be much easier for me to help you figure out how to solve your problem when we meet.
  • Student software licenses – Bucknell’s ESRI site license also includes free copies of ESRI’s ArcGIS software (including all extensions) for students’ personal academic use.  Stop by my office to get a copy.
